Hi, I've created a ColdFusion hosting directory located at http://www.coldfusion-hosting-plans.com .  Its always frustrating trying to find hosting companies who support ColdFusion so I am gathering them up into one place.  Will be adding more as time goes on.  Hope this helps everyone.

looks good...and a good idea at that.

would be nice to let people review hosting companies as well...then allow them to be sortable by name, price, avg review Smile

HostSearch allows you to leave reviews.  I've done that many a time there for various hosts I've used. It's also stopped me using a host or two Wink

I love the idea of the ColdFusion host index though.  Great job Smile

hmm...i'm actually shopping around for a new host...hostsearch looks nice.  turns up a lot of CF hosts I wasn't aware of.

I don't see reviews tho.  I'm sure they're right in front of me and I'm just blind as a bat...but can you point out the link for reviews?

Thx.

I am planning to include a rating or review service as soon as I can.  As far as hostsearch is concerned, you'll find that many of the companies that are listed as offering coldfusion actually don't.  i personally check each site i put on the page to make sure they actually do offer coldfusion.  maybe the ones on hostsearch used to offer cf, and the info just wasn't updated when they stopped; i dont know.  but i find it annoying to waste my time looking at sites only to find out they dont really have cf plans.  just my 2 cents.  Smile

dazzlin' -

i think it's great that you're putting that kind of effort into it (screening the hosts that you post).  I'm active in a number of CF 'forums' (here, cf-talk mailing list, IRC), and the question of where to find a (good|cheap) cfhost arises almost weekly.

as a matter of fact...one of the hosts listed on your site (hostdeparment) looks great (as far as price and what they offer).  I'm just a bit leery, as my current host kind of sucks, and I don't want to end up in that situation again.

You wouldn't happen to have any personal knowledge about hostdepartment, would you?

Very interesting that you asked about hostdepartment specifically.  As a matter of fact, I was having tons of problems with my host (who is NOT listed on my site), so just 3 days ago I switched to hostdepartment.  (This site, btw, is not the coldfusion-hosting-plans site, but my personal donnafontenot.com site).  Since my site is so new there, I can't give a review of them based on long-term usage, but so far it has been pretty good.  I had a couple of minor problems (such as not knowing what path to use for setting up odbc, and phpbb install not working).  The one thing I liked is they have LiveChat so I was able to immediately get hold of a person who helped me with the problems.  He was not the fastest tech in the world, but at least I knew I had a live person dealing with my problem right then and there. (And he did solve the problems). Anyhow, so far I give them a thumbs up.

cool...i've actually been to your personal site (fairly recently).  i believe i was searching on proposal kit (was thinking about purchasing that, since i absolutely suck at things like accurately projecting time and cost on projects), and your site was one of the ones that came up.

If you wouldn't mind keeping me updated about hostdepartment, I'd really appreciate it.  Don't know how on-topic it is for the forums here, so feel free to e-mail me @ charlie@griefer.com.

Thx Smile

To see the host reviews on HostSearch, you click on the tab 'Buying Guide', then the link 'Host Reviews'. Or you can just click below Wink

http://hostsearch.com/reviews.asp

You have to type in the company name you're interested in.

What dazzlindonna said is true though. You can do a search for ColdFusion and find hosts not supplying it. I've emailed a few hosts asking where their CF plans were only to be told they didn't offer it.

Ok, I've just updated the site to allow for users to submit ratings.  Hope that helps.  I doubt I'll get around to doing reviews any time soon, but at least this is a start.
