I don't think they will add in any crazy new functionality. I know imaging will be in there not sure about what else though. Maybe some new stuff for CFCs. I think you'll still be just fine with a CFMX7 book. Are you even on 7?? You had always mentioned you were running an old version 5 or 6.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!..... NEEEEEEEEW TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYSSSSS!.... YEEEEEEEEAAAH. lol

Great stuff, I'll be on the upgrade for that day of realease :-D

Like JJ says though bear, i think the plan is that it wont be a 'Major' release as far as features are concerned, its being dubbed as ColdFusion 7.5 and the version 8 will be another couple of years.

New features in the new scorpio are things like <cfimage> which will handle all the lovely image manipulation we have grown accustomed to with the image.cfc thats been doing the rounds.

One thing i'm really looking forward to is all the performance monitoring tools, which are also accessibly through an API, so you can table and chart the performance.

It alows you to view indevidual instances and queries so you can find those that run slowly, or sessions and variables that persist longer than you mean them too etc.

Should be good fun, and I love toys like this, I cant wait for it, shame its not out for christmas, that would be the best present EVER, and i'm sure santa wouldnt have any problems fitting it down the chimney. :-D

I actually attended on of those online seminars today with Ben Forta as the speaker. Despite the really bad VOIP I was able to catch a little bit about Scorpio and supposedly it is gonna be a really big push for coldfusion. He did mention the image stuff, but downgraded that as only the tip of the iceburg. It is suppose to really knock up the power of flex and what not. I am not sure how much he actually revealed because the sound came and went, but what I got it really did sound like something bigger than just minor changes.
