Hi Nym Smile

sorry, no, have been out of the loop there for quite a long time.  I checked and newton's other site, http://www.covennex.com/ , is still up and active

take care, megan

I let the host run out.

And since then had lost all my original files and sql dumps.

I am going to try to find them but cant make no promises.

I really just want to start cfxtreme as its own app and not be so based off cfnuke.

Newton,
I still have a bunch of the CFXtreme stuff on my computer backed up.  However, I really wanted to redo all the functionality too.  I personally still like and use CFXtreme in a couple of my websites.  I have wanted to take the whole code and redo it to something else a little different while keeping the "frontend" functionality the same.  Oh yeah, if you want, holler, I can host CFXtreme again.  Also, after I sell a few things (mainly my truck back in the states since I am now living over here Germany, gotta love the US AF!) I will be getting my own dedicated server that I will have complete control over versus having to rent out shared space on a webserver.  Just give me a holler at my email address (loydte3 at gmail com) and I'll get it set up so we can get back to it.

Compared to the other portals out there I liked CFXtreme because of its simplicity that allowed me some leeway to adjust it how I saw fit without too much programming.  I have looked at some of the others and they are rather large and voluminous in files and therefore not what I want to work with.  Anyway, holler at me if you want to do it.
Tom

yeah - I think it pretty much has - it had a lot of stuff wrong with it in the way the original database was set up and was never corrected so basically it needed a rewrite from the ground up (even the cfxtreme version) now with the advent components etc it would really really need a rewrite, but I do have a copy of the cfxtreme version if you want it as is - email me at my member email if you want it. ~megan

meg, ironically i found an add for isoloCMS today. says it's a new version and selling for 39.95... i was going to buy it just to play with it and see how much it had grown past the original version, but there wasn't a link to buy it lol... so i googled his email... i found several addresses and emailed them all - i'm sure a few of them are the wrong 'chris' though Smile
if i can find him and get it - i'll let you know. i wanted to buy it because a friend of mine needs something up 'now' and i am burried - no time to help him.

The copy I had was the "free version" he mentions in his first post that it is ok to use for yourself or your clients, I wonder if the one you saw for sale was the rewritten version he said he was planning on doing - ??? megan

Just in case anyone is looking for FarCry CMS, it should be noted that it is very tough to get working in a shared environment.  If you can get your host to work with you, then you are great shape but if not, there is a lot of mucking around with the code to make it work but then you cannot easily do updates.

Cheers,
Chip

I have tried Far Cry a few times, but find it extremely hard to work with.  Seems like programmers try to get to fancy to show what they can do, but make too crazy to actually work on.
