Ok...given all of the requests on this forum for chat rooms, I figured I'd post this here.

This is not my application.  Rob Rohan posted it to cf-talk.  It is definitely jaw dropping good.

it's a mixture of CF, CFCs, and JavaScript (what Rob calls 'JavaScript Remoting').  It's also (according to Rob), "Highly in beta"...so there are likely a few hiccups.

No Flash, no Java needed, and no page refreshing between messages.

Check it out at http://www.rohanclan.com/products/neuromancer/chatdemo.cfm

I'm sure Rob would appreciate any feedback that you would care to provide him (check www.rohanclan.com for a contact email address...since he didn't explicitly ask for me to post this, I'd prefer not to publically post his e-mail address).

Looks nice, but I couldn't get it to work. The ID: box, which I assume is the box to type text has a UUID plugged in that I can't get rid of.

i'm guessing the ID box is there for Rob and co. to do some debugging.

as far as typing your text, you do that in the space underneath the ID box Smile

Looks good.

Some improvements to do, as well as (I guess) a list of current users?

And sort out the interface  Wink

not my application...but i'm sure the owner/developer would love to hear your comments/suggestions.

as i mentioned in the original post, by his own admission, the application is 'highly in beta'.

but let him know what you think (again, see the original post for the web address to get his e-mail).  my intent on posting this here was so that people -would- look at it and -would- send him feedback as they saw fit.

It works VERY slow, and it seems to me that it only shows new messages when refreshing the chat by clicking the Send button...but a good attempt, it could definetely be updated to become a good chat.
