Hello,

I set a variable with the <cfset> tag that goes like this

<cfset name="Lápices Design">

but the character generated by the á it ends with a semicolon and it gives me a syntax error. What I am trying to get is a letter "a" with acute accent, but because of the actual code I don't know how.

If anyone has an idea, plase let me know

Please forgive me for all those previous posts. I kept getting a CF error about an attribute to="" being invalid in a cfmail tag. Must not like my email address! lol Sorry about that. I thought it didn't do my post so I hit back and kept trying until I realized it was posting my message.

What you need to use to get the character you want is a special character code. I will have to seperate the code itself because when I type it in here it will recognize it and print out an a with an accent. You should do the following to get it to work.

<cfset name="L & aacute ; pices Design">

Removing the spacing and it will work.

there is a character list for html 4 at http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/sgml/entities.html#h-24.2.1

the character for the small acute a is &-#225; (take out the dash - ) had to put the dash in so the char code would show up instead of render

hth ~megan

oops - sorry jj - you must have posted while I was looking it up Wink
