Hi All
I am new in coldfusion. Can any help me to get client mac address or client harddisk serial number or motherbord serial number. I have an application in which only few machines can access this application that is stored in database. How can i track those machine information. Any suggestion will be appricitable.

Thanks in advance

You can't read that type of client information in a web application, regardless of language.

There are many other options to secure the application - the best choice depends on why you need to limit access to certain machines.

Is there a technical reason why you need to restrict access to physical machines?

If you use c#, you can create an activeX that the user can install on their client machine, and with that you can invoke requests... but it would require the user to allow that to happen.

Is this for a closed application or an internet application?

Thanks a lot for replying
One thing that i would like to inform this is internet application developed in coldfusion and this application has very sensitive and competitive data. Thease data can only be access few machines of my client office that spread over in few countries. My client just want to access some part of websites only by his office. No body can  access these part of websites out side of his office however he or she has the valid user name or password.

I tried very much using cookies but my client did not satisfied by cookies becouse cookies can be deleted by user. I also tried using IP address but IP address is dynamic.

I just want to store some unique identification of machines and on these machines any body can access these data if he or she has valid user name or password.

Is it possible? or suggest me how i track these few machines?

any ideas will be appricitable.

Well, the first thing I would say is this.

If it's sensitive and comptetive; i would create a separate area (all togehter) and only give them access to that... Or maybe even an entirely different system on their office PCs (intranet) and then no one outside would access it.
